It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Erika Vogel. My daughter, Rachel, and I started training with Erika in January 2008.  During this time we have both experienced a number of physical improvements. First, our body proportions and tone have improved.  Second, my sense of balance is more sensitive.  Third, and perhaps an unexpected benefit, my longstanding back and leg pain (sciatica) has resolved.


Erika is extraordinarily devoted to her profession.  Her interest in our total well-being is manifestly apparent.  She comes to each session with a program of exercises tailored to our needs.  Between sessions she frequently e-mails us material related to general nutrition and exercise.  Finally, she has become a great friend and mentor.

I hope these comments are helpful.  I would recommend Erika for any position related to personal physical training with utmost enthusiasm.

I have been a client of Erika Vogel’s for approximately 3 years. Erika is a talented trainer and the workouts are challenging, but never overwhelming. In recommending her to a friend recently, I spoke about two of her strengths that are important to me. The first is knowledge and the second is attention to the client.


Erika’s wide knowledge of physiology and exercise keeps my workout sessions fresh. The focus of the work varies (for example, endurance, flexibility/balance, and so on). The type of workout varies from a typical workout using free weights, universal machines, and other equipment to a workout built around the idea of an obstacle course or a session outside. For me, this variety helps keep me interested and motivated. In addition, she increases the difficulty of my workouts gradually to match my increasing strength and flexibility. A second aspect of Erika’s wide knowledge is her ability to explain the exercises and to answer my questions. She is interested in topics related to exercise and training, continues to keep up with the literature, and regularly brings new ideas to the sessions.


I have been struck by Erika’s attention my form during workouts. During a bout of tendonitis, Erika made changes to my program that enabled me to both heal and to continue to work out. From session to session, she checked in about my recovery and made continual adjustments to meet my needs. Perhaps most importantly, Erika pays to my form as I work out. She takes care that I am using good form and exercising properly. When I lose form, she stops me and hands me a lower weight so that I can complete the set using good form.


My goals are to gain strength and lose weight. My body shape is changing as gain muscle and I’m pleased with the change. I am seeing results.  I have not made all the dietary changes needed to fully realize my weight loss goal.


In closing, I want to note that I continue working with Erika as my trainer because I enjoy the challenge of the workouts and the professional yet fun sprit that Erika brings to the work.

Erika Vogel has been my trainer for over 2 years.  During that time I have found her to be exceptional in the level of professionalism she exhibits.  Erika is extremely knowledgeable of the purpose behind the routine she is prescribing: both regarding exercise and nutrition.  She designs workouts that are challenging and ever changing to avoid boredom for her clients and also because, I’ve learned, this is a more effective strategy.  She is encouraging and fun but still makes sure that her client does a challenging workout and doesn’t let you “off the hook” .  However, if there is a real injury she takes great care to protect that body part.  All in all I have continued with her because I have really seen results.  With her guidance I have lost 15 lbs of fat, dropped one dress size, and reduced back pain that had been ever present due to an arthritic spine. 

In sum, I highly recommend Erika as the consummate professional.

I am writing this letter on behalf of Erika Vogel, personal trainer.  I have worked with four different trainers over the past several years so feel I can assess technical knowledge as well as motivational skills pretty well


Erika challenges her clients while paying close attention to the particular quirks (physical and psychological) each one brings into the gym.  She follows up in between sessions to check in or send articles of interest.  I have only been working with her since December but can see and feel big improvements in my energy level, my sleeping patterns and of course the way my clothes fit!
